On October 9-11, EMIS Principal Gili Roman attended Women4Mediterranean's 2018 Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. He shared his experience with the struggle for female empowerment in school settings, and he offered his belief that making female voices heard requires a shift in the structure of power itself and the need to put female perspectives and strengths as the priority in building a system of equality.

He said, "It is our duty to change schools towards using less power as a whole. Being at school demands a performance of much power from students on a daily basis. You need to fight for attention, fight to speak up and be heard, to compete all the time. We are not tolerant towards weakness and we don't accept failures and hardship. This is a destructive atmosphere for all, but mostly for women."
