From October 25-27 EMIS hosted our 4th annual Youth Conference for Peace and Sustainability (YOCOPAS). We had 350 participants in total including EMIS students, students from schools across Israel and Palestine, a school in Denmark, and other international visitors. The conference this year was based on the idea of sharing stories and narratives through the theme "Connecting the Dots: My Story, Your Story, Our Story." The student leadership committee and other DP2 students volunteered their time and efforts to plan engaging workshops, preform creative musical and dance pieces, and invite inspiring speakers to tell a wide variety of stories. We had Noa Baum present on "Choosing Peace: World Tales to Ponder" and workshops given by the staff from One Solution, a photography workshop from educators from one of our partner schools (HaReali), a screening of the new film "The Oslo Diaries" followed by a question and answer session with Elias Zananiri and Yossi Beilin, and many more amazing speakers and activities! To wrap up the conference, the students went on a trip to Jaffa to hear stories about how Jews and Arabs live together in peace. We are very grateful to Rachelle and the YOCOPAS student leaders for all their hard work!
