Hakfar Hayarok - The Green Village

Hakfar Hayarok (Hebrew for The Green Village) is a youth village and an education center. Within short driving distance from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Ramallah, it is a green haven in the midst of the bustling Sharon region in central Israel.

Founded in 1950, Hakfar Hayarok started as a socialistic youth village for teaching agriculture to young Israelis and immigrants. It has since grown to be a premier educational center with one of Israel’s leading high schools, teaching ground-breaking programs focused on personal leadership, environmental studies, and involvement in the community. The campus contains full academic infrastructure, a youth village, and an agricultural farm. The six-year high school has over 2,000 students. Four hundred students live on campus in several dorm buildings and enjoy a rich and unique experience. This vibrant community offers EMIS students a glimpse into a cross-section of the Israeli society and allows them to interact and learn from each other.

EMIS is located ideally for local community service, as well as field trips to the south for environmental study projects and to the beautiful mountain region in the country’s north. It is just a few minutes’ drive from the Mediterranean coast and is nearby some of Israel’s leading universities, including the world-renowned Tel Aviv University with which EMIS has a strategic relationship enabling abundant academic opportunities for the students.

Hakfar Hayarok provides its entire infrastructure to the school, including dorms, dining hall, sports facilities, swimming pool, arts and music rooms, library and science labs.

EMIS follows a model of a two-year study-and-living experience set in a dormitory school, with all students and part of the staff living on campus. The school dorms house 4 students per room in separate halls for girls and boys. The EMIS campus has classrooms, an art studio, and full administration and support services.
